The Freo Girl Who Started a Pyjama Brand from the Other Side of the World
Kate Kennedy is the founder of Kip & Boo, an Australian women's bamboo sleepwear brand designed for women who refuse to choose between comfort and style.
Originally from Fremantle, Western Australia, Kate now runs Kip & Boo while raising her two daughters in Hoi An, Vietnam. Proof that you can build a brand you love from literally anywhere with a decent WiFi connection and a good pair of bamboo pyjamas.
Why Bamboo Sleepwear?
Like a lot of women in their 40s, Kate hit perimenopause and suddenly sleep became the enemy. Night sweats, restless nights, waking up at 3am feeling like she'd been wrapped in cling film. Not ideal.
Bamboo fabric changed everything. Naturally temperature regulating, moisture wicking and impossibly soft against sensitive skin. It's the fabric Kate wishes she'd discovered years earlier.
When she couldn't find bamboo sleepwear that was both genuinely comfortable AND actually beautiful, she did what any slightly chaotic free spirit would do. She made it herself.
The Brand She Built
Kip & Boo launched with a simple mission: create women's bamboo pyjamas that feel incredible to sleep in, look good enough to live in, and are made from fabric that's kind to both your body and the planet.
Every piece is made from OEKO-TEX certified bamboo viscose, breathable, thermal regulating and gentle on sensitive skin. Perfect for hot sleepers, women navigating perimenopause, new mums and anyone who takes their sleep seriously.

A Life Built Around Adventure
Between school runs, Zoom calls and the occasional motorbike ride through the streets of Hoi An, Kate writes about everything from bamboo fabric and sleep health to travel packing lists and the realities of perimenopause.
Her writing draws on real experience as a founder, a mum, a hot sleeper and a woman who genuinely wears her own products every single day.
